So why is it when people find out I do Erotic Art Photography they automatically think that makes me a kinky weird fetish slut? Now I might be a kinky weird fetish slut (not going to say either way), but that would have nothing to do with what I do for a living. What is the fascination people have with putting labels on to everyone else?
A lot of my friends are strippers, porn stars, escorts and male models, and they get treated in much the same way. Soon as someone finds out what they do for a living they automatically start acting as if they are somehow superior to the guys in the "biz". Quite frankly that's a load of crap. The fact is that my friends in the "biz" are normally, smarter, more artistic, kinder, less judgemental and all around better people than the people I know who aren't.
What you do for a living doesn't make you a better person; how you treat others is what makes you a better person.
So next time you start thinking you can look down your nose at someone in the "biz" take a good long look at who you really are. What have you done for your fellow man, what do you really contribute to making the world a better place? Chances are you've done a lot less than the person you're about to think less of....

Artists Inn Residence

Mighty Max

After photos have been up on my Model Mayhem site for a little over a week, it's becoming quite apparent that Max Sinclair or "Mighty Max" as I call him, is turning out to be the most popular of our Anteros Anterotes. Following closely on his heels are Devon Hunter and Nova Sky. So looks like the athletic muscle boys are peoples favorites. Not that that surprises me. Anteros Media is always looking for new models, any age, any body type so long as you're fit, but of course we also want to make money for ourselves and the gay community, so your desires are on our minds too. So feel free to let us know what you think of our men.

Chicken One Day...

Well there's an old southern saying..."Chicken one day, feathers the next." It's definitely one of those "feathers" days. My car was stolen last evening with 2 of my rather pricey cameras in it. Of course the insurance won't cover it, as usual insurance never covers whatever actually happens... sigh...

Oh well, not much I can do about it. So onward and forward.

Looks like Anteros Media will be doing some events in DC soon. I will report more on that as soon as I know the details.

A Way With Words...

When Devon and I first decided to create an Erotic Art company, we put a lot of thought into not only what we wanted to accomplish, but what we wanted to change. Gay men have some pretty negative self images, and most gay videos, art, and stories reinforce those poor images. The overwhelming amount of very unsafe practices in male porn, the use of "gay for pay" straight men, it all goes toward subconsciously demeaning gay men. So that was one of the things we are setting out to change. To do that you need to create new words and concepts.
All the ideas and words we created are copyrighted and property of Anteros Media, so don't go trying to steal em. I'd hate to have to slap someone... :)
First we looked for a positive gay image to name the company after, and settled on Anteros the Greek God of Love returned. Anteros was the brother, lover and companion of Eros the God of Love. Many people ignore all the gay references in Greek Myth, but many of the Gods had gay relationships. In Greek Mythology Gay was okay. So from that we gave the company the name "Anteros Media".
We call myself and any other photographer working for the company an "Anterosographer". Why because we wanted a new term for an erotic art photographer which these days is associated with porn. An Anterosographer creates erotic art not porn.
Our models are called "Anterotes". Erotes were the followers and lovers of Anteros in Greek Myth, the most beautiful of mortal men. "Anteretes" are the ladies in our midst. We are after all a GLBT organization.
What we produce movies, stories, photographs, etc. is "Anterotica". We rate our videos as "XO", "XOXO" and "XOXOXO" sure its cutesy but it also separates us away from "X" to "XXX" products. In the end its all about perceptions, and changing perceptions.
We want the GLBT to start feeling more positively about itself. We can't do that so long as we are reinforcing negative archetypes.

Model Call in Charlotte

So Anteros Media is holding an Open Model Call and Photo Shoot in Charlotte NC on Tuesday, September 22, 2009. It will be held at "Sidelines" 4544 South Blvd., the gay sports bar. (704) 525 - 2608 Of course we are looking for men for future Erotic Art Photo Shoots. Age, Race and body type are not really as important as being fit. Anteros Media is actively looking for a diversity in body images. So if you think you have what it takes to be an Erotic Art Model we want to see you there!

We will also have our Launch Party for Anteros Media at Sidelines on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009. We are holding raffles to support local gay community groups: the Community Center, Royals etc. and selling picture prints of our fantastic men. So come out and support us and the Charlotte Gay Community!
